Thursday’s public hearing on the City of Auburn’s proposed revision of the vehicle and traffic law had some contentious moments.
Speakers spoke both in favor and against a ban on overnight parking the length of Genesee from Owasco to John, but City Court Judge Thomas McKeon and attorney Thomas Tuturro said the ban could lead to an increase in drunk driving.
City Clerk Chuck Mason said on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the temporary overnight parking ban has received positive reviews.
Mason added Council could vote on the revised local law at next week’s meeting.
Mayor Michael Quill ruled Tuturro was out of order when he said making it easier for city workers to remove snow was “chump change” and made “a couple of public employees’ lives a little bit more convenient.”
