After 25 years of service, Kathy Hand will be retiring from the library. We also say goodbye to our bookkeeper Melanie Shernesky, who will be moving on to new projects. We will miss you both!

Storytimes with SAVAR
SAVAR, a program of Cayuga County Counseling Services, Inc., will be at *Toddler Storytime on Tuesday, January 9 at 11 am. Presenters will use a book called My Body Belongs to Me (From My Head To My Toes). This book’s focus is to reduce victimization by promoting the setting of healthy boundaries and encouraging empowerment of youth to make decisions about their own bodies. A handout will be provided to each child so caregivers can also review this information.
On Wednesday, January 17 at 6 pm, SAVAR will be doing a presentation to school age children using the book My Body Belongs to Me (From My Head To My Toes). A handout will be provided to each child so caregivers can also review this information. For children ages 5 and up.
Protecting Children: A Program for Caregivers
SAVAR will be running a program for caregivers on Tuesday, January 23 at 6 pm. This presentation will provide an overview of child sexual abuse: Impact on children; Indicators; How molesters “groom” children and their parents; Warning signs – unhealthy relationships; Age Appropriate sexual behaviors; Safety planning; Supervision of sexualized children; Why kids don’t disclose; Why kids “recant”.
