The chairman of the Cayuga County Republican Committee has stepped down. Jeff Herrick resigned last week after accepting a position with the Transportation Security Administration. The former Town of Sennett supervisor took over the GOP in 2016 and was re-elected in October.
County legislator Tim Lattimore tells Finger Lakes News Radio it will be important for the GOP to hire his replacement as quickly as possible.
Lattimore says bringing a strong leader on board will ensure the GOP remains an important part of the political landscape in the county.
Herrick began his new job with the TSA on Monday.
