State Senator Pam Helming (R-54) on Monday announced six county fairs in the region will be eligible to receive state funding to help improve facilities and promote New York agriculture. The 2017 Agricultural Fairgrounds Infrastructure Improvement Program approved in this year’s state budget will spread $5 Million equally among fifty-two local fairs.
She tells Finger Lakes News Radio it’s a good sign for the Finger Lakes.
She adds just over $96 thousand in grant funding is available to the county fairs in Cayuga, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca and Wayne Counties, as well as the Trumansburg Fair in Tompkins County.
Sen. Helming says the fairs showcase the best in agriculture and livestock and raise awareness and education of the No. 1 industry in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region. They also foster a sense of community spirit and provide fun and entertainment for people of all ages.
