Canandaigua City Manager John Goodwin in a news release this afternoon named the Canandaigua Police officer who was involved in the fatal exchange of gun fire with a off duty State Parole officer at Pinnacle North on October 4th.
Sergeant Scott Kadien has over 15 years of service with the Canandaigua Police Department and over 20 years in law enforcement. For a number of years, Kadien served as the departments liaison with the media. He was one of three finalists for the job of Police Chief last year.
According to Goodwin, Kadien has returned to work and has been assigned an administrative role within the department. The release says, “Kadien will continue in that assignment until the investigation by the New York State Police has been completed and the results of the investigation have been turned over to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office for review and disposition.” Canandaigua Police were asked to check the welfare of 48 year old Sandra Guardiola after fellow parole officers became worried about her when she hadn’t shown up for work that day.
