Law enforcement authorities held a news conference this afternoon to release what they could about the fatal officer involved shooting at Pinnacle North in Canandaigua Wednesday afternoon that left a 48 year old state parole officer dead . Canandaigua Police were asked to check the welfare of 48 year Sandra Guardiola after fellow parole officers became worried about her . After knocking on her apartment door and getting no answer , Pinnacle reps let the Canandaigua officer ( a 15 year veteran of the force) in. That’s when shots were fired. Canandaigua Police Chief Stephen Hedworth says it will take time to set a time line for what happened. He says this is a difficult moment for all concerned.
First Assistant District Attorney Jim Ritts says it is way too early to say it this matter will go to the Ontario County Grand Jury.

Law enforcement authorities have announced that there will be a 1PM news conference at Troop E Headquarters in Farmington to update reporters on the Wednesday afternoon fatal police shooting at Pinnacle North.
A person at Canadaigua’s Pinnacle North Apartments was shot and killed Wednesday in an exchange of gunfire with police.
The investigation is underway and police have released little information.
The Department of Corrections and Community Services issued a statement conforming that an off-duty parole officer was involved, and that the parole officer had died.
Canandaigua City Police Chief Stephen Hedworth says the police officer involved in the exchange was not hurt. Police were called to the apartment complex at just after 4:00 p.m.
The investigation of the shooting has been turned over to New York State Police and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Canandaigua police confirm one person has been shot at the Pinnacle North Complex on Lakeshore Drive.
Police responded to an apartment there at around 4:15 Wednesday afternoon, and report an exchange of gunfire between an offier and an unidentified person inside the apartment. The responding officer was not hurt.
Several ambulances were called to the scene. Mercy Flight was also requested, but couldn’t respond due to weather conditions.
One victim has been taken to an area hospital. No word yet on the victim’s identity or condition.
