Catherine A. (Dare) Mancini, age 69, passed away on Sept. 29, 2017 as a result of a three-year battle with ALS. With exception of her college years at SUNY Geneseo, Catherine was a life resident of the Auburn area.
Cathy was the daughter of the late Robert E. Dare and Marion Hanahen. She graduated with honors from Upstate Medical Center and spent her career as a ultrasonographer, first at Auburn Community Hospital, and then at the Diagnostic Imaging Center. Catherine was a dedicated and caring medical professional who greatly enjoyed her work.
Cathy spent her retirement years at home on Owasco Lake where she enjoyed fishing, boating, camp fires and long, quiet trips in her kayak. Her many interests included reading, knitting, gardening, painting, music and traveling to NYC and Washington D.C to visit her children and grandchildren. She especially loved trips to Arizona.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael, three sons, Jeff (Lori) Mancini, Marc (Maira) Mancini, and Nicholas (Anku) Mancini. Four grandsons, Drew Mancini, Matthew Mancini, and Deven and Dillon Mancini. Three brothers, Steve (Mary) Dare, John (Marcia) Dare and Michael Hanahen. Cathy also leaves behind two very special life long friends, Joanne Mitchell and Netti Baird. Catherine was predeceased by her father and brother, Ken.
