Alice Margaret House passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at her home in Fair Haven surrounded by family.
Alice, 89, was born on Nov. 6, 1927 in Syracuse, to Ella Lee and Clarence Collins. Alice spent much of her early life in Carthage, N.Y. where she graduated from the Augustinian Academy in 1944. Alice cherished her years in Carthage and maintained contact with her school and school friends throughout her life. Alice attended Oswego State and worked in the telephone company in Oswego. In 1947, she married Hugh Emerson House and the couple lived in Cato, N.Y. where Hugh Emerson started a chiropractic practice. Following Hugh Emerson’s untimely death, Alice continued to live in Cato and Fair Haven with her longtime companion, Raymond S. Sant, until they moved to Fair Haven full-time in 2004. Alice was blessed with a large, loving family and many friends and prized the time she was able to share with them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Agneta Gotch; daughters, Cheryl (Charles) House, Jana (Brandon) House, and Lesley (Craig) Gould; sons, Stefan (Amy) House and Hugh Emerson House; grandchildren, Megan Horn, Ryan Gould, Brennan Furber, Emery House, Kiley House, Ellie House, David House, Katie House, Dylan Hunt, and Taylor Hartford; great-grandchildren, Quinlin and Wyatt Horn, and a large extended family.
