William F. Wilcox, 94, formerly of 514 Main St., Oneida, passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Matthew House in Auburn.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1922, in Oneida, the son of Walter and Kathleen Garvin Wilcox. Bill was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1940. He went onto receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Harvard University, Class of 1944. Bill received his law degree from the University of Albany Law School.
Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 where he was a pilot of the B-24s.
Bill was the owner and partner with his brother, Robert, of Wilcox-Wilcox Attorneys at Law in Oneida for over fifty years. He was a member of the Madison County Bar Association and the NYS Bar Association. He was an assistant City of Oneida Judge.
Bill was a member of the B.P.O.E. 767 of Oneida and Past Exalted Ruler. He served on the Board of Madison County Supervisors, and was a former member of the E. Bart Hanifin Council 474 Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, beginning with a Prayer Service at 9:30 a.m. at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 347 Main St., Oneida, where the Rev. Richard J. Kapral will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
