A Rochester drug dealer convicted in Cayuga County a year ago is suing multiple law enforcement agencies and officials, claiming his constitutional rights were violated.
Tyrone Matthews was convicted of possessing small quantities of cocaine but acquitted of five more serious felonies. His suit claims malicious prosecution by District Attorney Jon Budelmann and members of his office as well as Auburn Police and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Budelmann calls the suit frivolous.
He tells FLNR there’s no doubt Matthews was dealing drugs.
The complaint filed Friday in U.S. District Court seeks unspecified money damages and argues that race was a factor.
