Some helpful information for those planning on attending the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen.
On Friday, the Glenora Run Road Rallye will make a short stop in the Village of Montour Falls. Beginning around 11:00 a.m., 100 sports cars participating in the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen will take a break from driving their rallies in the area and assemble in Montour Falls to stretch their legs and enjoy the village. Main Street will be closed during this time. The drivers will return to their cars and depart for a lap of the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility around 11:45 a.m.
The organizers of the event wish to thank Village of Montour Falls residents, businesses and municipal workers for their cooperation and assistance during this time. Come on out and see the sports cars in action and cheer them on!
Free parking for Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival-goers is available at the Clute Park Community Center off NYS Route 414 – east of downtown Watkins Glen. Spectators and volunteers can park and board the shuttle to get closer to the event sites along Franklin Street and reduce walking and downtown traffic. This is the only parking location.
Additional passenger drop-off and pick-up sites along Porter Street will be located on the east side of Lafayette Park – the site of the Cars of the Autobahn Tour de marque, and near the Schoolhouse Apartments (formerly WGCS Middle School.) These sites are for passenger pick-up and drop-off only, with no parking. Spectators can get on or off at any location.
Utilization of this service helps to reduce traffic flow in the village and make parking and road traffic easier for everyone.
The free shuttle will run from 1 p.m. until the streets re-open at 9:30 p.m. The last run will be at 10 p.m.
Watch for signs for parking areas and passenger only pick-up and drop-off points
