A 27 year old Ithaca man faces a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals after he allegedly shot a cat with a crossbow back in June.
Phillip Lewis is accused of intentionally shooting the female cat between the eyes with the arrow piercing through the cat’s shoulder and back area. Police say Lewis then chased after the injured cat but was unable to catch it. Lewis was sent to Tompkins County Jail following his arraignment.
The cat was treated at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals where it has successfully recovered. It’s been adopted by one of the vet students.
