At 9:00a, Saturday, the starting gun went off to begin the Ninth Annual Time to Sperr Run at Sperr Memorial Park in Big Flats. Runners were able to choose from a 3, 5, or 10 kilometer course. Children were even able to join in with an 8-hundred meter fun run around the park’s pond. Participants will see their donations going to a good cause, with all proceeds from the race going to maintenance and continual improvements to park. These include the expansion of the playground and adding additional equipment to the park and hiring scenic services to assist in park maintenance near the monument area. The run is held in honor of State Trooper Andrew J Sperr who was killed in the line of duty by two bank robbers during a traffic stop in 2006.
