Hazel Keithley, 86, of Meridian, passed away in her home on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017.
Friends and family will most remember her “strong” will and her “clever” way with words. Even she would admit she was as stubborn as a mule and as sharp-witted and blunt as the machete she would gently remind people she had in her kitchen. Ultimately, all those closest to her know that to be on the receiving end of a well-meaning, sarcastic jab was a sign of love.
She filled her home with lifelong collections of dolls and Hummels, a dynasty of pets who turned out crazy and spoiled-rotten and photographs of the family she raised with her husband of 65 years, Harold Keithley.
She is also survived by three equally “strong” and “clever” daughters, Andrea King, of Pennsylvania, Denice (Raymond) Zink, of Cato, and Marcia (Tim), of Ohio; one son, Hal (Linda) Keithley, of Texas; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
If anyone wishes to make donations, they may be made to the Meridian Baptist Church, P.O. Box 37.
At Hazel’s request, there are no calling hours or services. She didn’t want any sort of fuss. Even after her passing, Hazel Keithley gets the last word.
Arrangements are in care of the Keysor-Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home
