The ongoing Cayuga Indian Nation leadership battle has at least one more legal round left.
The Auburn Citizen reports Unity Council leader Joseph Heath has filed a motion with the Interior Board of Indian Appeals, seeking to overturn a decision handed down last month that recognized Clift Halftown’s Cayuga Nation Council as the leadership of record.
Heath also says he will file suit in federal court if his motion is unsuccessful.
The legal wrangling over who exactly is in charge of the Cayuga Indian Nation has raged on for more than 2 years. Read the full Citizen article here.
