Longtime Republican State Senator John DeFrancisco is dipping a toe in the water to see if the time is right for being the Republican candidate to challenge Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2018. DeFrancisco tells Finger Lakes News Radio the political climate today is similar to when George Pataki defeated Mario Cuomo in 1994.
DeFrancisco says Andrew Cuomo is vulnerable because of his inconsistent policies and failed programs.
Whether he runs or not, DeFrancisco says a strong GOP candidate can win. A recent Sienna College poll showed Cuomo’s job approval ratings dipped even among downstate voters, with his favorability at 52 percent.
