The Auburn School District’s Parent Council on Wednesday evening will hear from an ally in the battle to get the Foundation Aid funding it’s entitled to when Dr. Rick Timbs, the Executive Director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium gives a presentation on how Foundation Aid is supposed to work.
He tells Finger Lakes News Radio the district’s ‘Let it Run and Fully Fund’ initiative will only help some districts.
Dr. Timbs says the funding formula is out of date and funds are not distributed equitably based on need.
He will explain how the Foundation Aid formula is supposed to work.
It’s estimated that if the formula was allowed to run as-is, it would annually bring an additional $1.7 million to the district. If Foundation Aid was fully funded under the original formula, it would generate over $5 million annually.
Wednesday’s meeting is open to all, and gets underway at 6:30pm a the Tubman Administration Building on Thornton Av.
