The Lincoln Street parking garage in downtown Auburn is about to become automated. Public Works Superintendent Mike Talbot reported to City Council last night the automated ticketing equipment is almost operational.
City Clerk Chuck Mason said on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the user-friendly system could be up and running by next week.
There is also improved pedestrian access to the garage by the removal of some wall panels to create more ground level entrances, and Mason added 14 parking spots in the open lot on the back side of the garage are now metered.
A reminder, your first two hours are free when you park in the garage, but not in the new spots off of William Street.
In addition to the changes in the garage, City Manager Jeff Dygert announced at the meeting an addendum to the city’s road program has been added that could increase the size of the Court Street parking lot from 25 spots to as many as 50 to 60.
