The record setting rain is causing more headaches for folks in southern Cayuga County. A sandbagger that was used to keep Lake Ontario water at bay in Fair Haven is on its way to Locke. On Thursday, the county highway department brought more than 500 sandbags from the north end of the county to help protect the Millstream Court Apartments in Moravia and other flood damaged areas.
Emergency Management Assistant Director Niel Rivenburgh tells Finger Lakes News Radio the rain has not been restricted to the southern end of the county.
Rain that fell on Thursday washed away much of the repairs done following the July 1st storm.
Rivenburgh adds the price tag for the damage is now at about a million dollars.
Be alert for debris and water on roads if you’re driving in southern areas of the county today. And remember, if you come upon a flooded section of road — turn around don’t drown.
