NFL Playoffs, S.U. Hoops Highlight Busy Sports Weekend

It was a Saturday night to remember for NFL football fans and an eventful week for fans of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orange.   The Bren Zone will touch on it all Sunday morning from 9-11 on Finger Lakes News Radio and fingerlakesdailynews.com

We’ll recap Saturday’s playoff games and preview the Sunday matchups with our NFL go-to-guy Hank Gola, who was in Denver Saturday night to cover the double overtime instant classic between the Broncos and Ravens.

We’ll talk Syracuse basketball and high school hoops with Ben Meyers of the Auburn Citizen.  The Orange downed Villanova, 72-61, at the Dome on Saturday afternoon without James Southerland, who is out indefinitely because of an eligibility issue.

Earlier in the week, S.U. named Scott Shafer its new head football coach after Doug Marrone left to become the new head coach of the Buffalo Bills.  Jim Mandelaro of the Rochester D&C was in Syracuse for his introductory press conference and will share his thoughts. We’ll also be joined by Syracuse Chiefs play-by-play man Jason Benetti, who will share his thoughts on this week’s Baseball Hall of Fame election that resulted in no new inductees.

The Bren Zone, hosted by Brendan Harrington, airs every Sunday morning from 9-11 on Finger Lakes News Radio and fingerlakesdailynews.com  If you can’t listen live, you can listen anytime on demand at brenharrington.podbean.com
