PENN YAN – Jay L. Stryker, 82, of Penn Yan, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday (March 16, 2013).
Calling hours for Jay will be held Sunday (March 24) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Weldon Funeral Home, where funeral services for Jay will be on Monday (March 25) at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Yatesville Cemetery.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to Yatesville Cemetery.
Jay was born February 18, 1931 the son of Ward and Mabel Haight Stryker. He served in the US Navy and was a member of the Potter Fire Department, the Keuka Renegades, the VFW, the American Legion and Sportsman Association. He was an assistant Boy Scout Leader. He loved gardening and muzzle loading. He was a hunter safety instructor for 34 years.
Jay is survived by five sons, Jay "Lucky" (Michele) Stryker Jr. of Missouri, Robert Stryker of Dresden, Dan (Virginia) Stryker of Penn Yan, Larry (Bev) Stryker of Nebraska and Barry Stryker of Dresden; four daughters, Connie (Brad) Baughman, Paula Wolf, both of Dresden, Vicki Stryker of Yuma, Ariz. and Penny (Rick) Forris of Nebraska; two step sons, Jim and John Breese, both of Waterloo as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jay was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Breese Stryker; son, Dennis; and grandson, Troy Thomas.
