Mary L. Blodgett

AUBURN | Mary L. Blodgett, 92, passed away on Feb. 17, 2013, due to serious complications arising from her battle with cancer. She was born on Feb. 18, 1920 in Delphi Falls, N.Y., and was brought to Auburn by her husband, Dixon G. Blodgett, an agent for Prudential Insurance. Mary was a graduate of Cazenovia Junior college and attended Keuka College. She loved the arts and music, and was an accomplished pianist. In her earlier years, Mary enjoyed gardening, hooking rugs, and traveling with her husband. She was also very generous to local charities, taking great satisfaction in assisting efforts to improve our community. Her final act of kindness was to donate her body to Upstate Medical Center for the benefit of science. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Dixon, who died in 1986, at which time she moved into Westminster Manor, where she resided until the week before her death. She resided at the manor for just over 26 years and, to this date, was its longest term resident. Mary died at the home of her devoted friend and caregiver, Marcia Kimak. She was also survived by her many friends, including staff, at the manor, and her longtime friend and former neighbor, T. David Stapleton. At Mary's request there will be no calling hours or formal services. Brew Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary died as she lived, comforted by her many friendships.
