Gail Sawers Loving Mother & Grandmother CANANDAIGUA - Gail Sawers, 79, died peacefully on Feb. 11, 2013, at Wesley Gardens in Rochester. Gail was born in the town of Potter on Jan. 23, 1934, to the late Charles I. and Irene Comb Race Sr. She was an avid bingo player and was devoted to her family. She was the widow of William Sawers, who died in 1984. She is survived by her children, Irene (Thomas) Shellman of Honeoye Falls, JoAnn (Jack) Curran of Churchville, Bill (Patti) Sawers of Bristol and Jim (Renee) Sawers of Naples; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Nancy) Race Jr. of Canandaigua and Gary (Elsie) Race of Hopewell; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Gerry Beamsderfer of Canandaigua. She was preceded in death by her brother and two sisters. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, where funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. It has been suggested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to St. Jude's Hospital or a Humane Society of your choice.
