Frank L. Bottorf Loving husband, father, brother, uncle CANANDAIGUA - Frank L. Bottorf, age 75, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Evelyne "Evie" Bottorf; son, Richard "Rit" (Bonnie) Bottorf; sister, Georgiana "Gg" Thompson; mother-in-law, Marie Hitchcock; brother-in-law, Dan (Catherine) Hitchcock; sister-in-law, Sally Bottorf; and nieces, Lori, Jennifer, Erin, Katie, Sarah and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard M. Bottorf in 2011. Frank was born in Bellefonte, Pa. and was the son of Richard and Lorraine (Murphy) Bottorf. He came to Canandaigua in the eighth grade and became involved in sports, earning three varsity letters in his sophomore year at Canandaigua Academy. Frank also spoke fondly of his involvement in the Academian's dance band in high school. He was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1955. Frank and his classmates meant a lot to each other and they continued to stay in touch throughout the years. Frank received an associate's degree from Rochester Business Institute and worked in insurance and mutual funds, as well as having a private advertising business. His passion for 40 years was Finger Lakes Racetrack, where he started as an owner/trainer of his own horses and then took official positions as the track clocker, identifier and placing judge. Frank was a member of the Finger Lakes Horsemen's Benevolent Protective Association and past member of Canandaigua Country Club and Merrill Hose Volunteer Fire Department. Always a gentleman, Frank was kind to those he met and had a soft spot for every animal that came to the Bottorf farm. His love for his family and especially his son Rit, his "best buddy", made him a devoted father, husband and brother. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St. Canandaigua. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program Inc., P.O.
