AUBURN | Steven J. Emmi, 32, the son of the late Michael A. Emmi and mother, Robin C. Emmi, of Lakeland, Colo., formerly of Auburn, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 in Layton, Utah. A native of Auburn, Steven was a graduate of the Auburn High School Class of 1998, where he excelled and lettered in football. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having served with the United States Army and was employed as a bio-medical technician in Lakeland, Colo. In addition to his mother Robin, Steven is survived by his stepfather, Gregory Schiminske, of Florida; two brothers, Michael L. Emmi, of Auburn and Staff Sgt. Marc Emmi, serving in the U.S. military in Afghanistan; a step-brother, Jonathon Schiminske, of California; a step-sister, Jessica Schiminske, of Florida and several aunts and uncles. Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in St. Francis Church, by the Rev. Michael Conboy. Steven will be laid to rest alongside his father in St. Joseph Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded to him. Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark Street Road, Auburn. Contributions may be made in memory of Steven to the charity of one's choice .
