AUBURN | Donald R. Gillespie, 79, of Auburn and formerly of Skaneateles, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Mercy Health and Rehab. Born in Boston, he owned and operated DG Restaurant in Elbridge and International Business Products in Syracuse, until his retirement in 1983. Don was a life-member of the Syracuse Elks Club and former member of the Knights of Columbus and Pastime Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley Gillespie; daughters, Claudia Gillespie, of Auburn and Lynn (Michael) Malone, of Liverpool; sons, David (Chun) Gillespie, of Stafford, Va. and Brian (Jean) Gillespie, of Auburn; sister, Eileen Loucks, of Potsdam; brothers, Richard, of Nashua, N.H. and Paul, of Burlington, Vt.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Alphonsus Church, Auburn. The Right of Committal will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles. Friends may call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles.
