THROOP | Shirley J. Warter, 78, of Turnpike Road, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in the Focus Rehabilitation Center of Utica. Mrs. Warter was born in Owasco, the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Richards Deacy. Mrs. Warter attended Auburn schools and she was a lifelong resident of Throop. Shirley enjoyed being a caregiver to many, especially to her grandchildren. Mrs. Warter is survived by her children; Mrs. Rory (Gail) McDowell, of Throop, Mrs. Daniel (Mary) Clark, of Rochester and Joseph C. Warter, of Aurelius; her grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Clark and Jordan McDowell; two sisters, Patricia (Lou) Thierry, of Auburn and Mary Lou Savino, of Rochester; Several nieces, nephews and cousins, including many dear friends, Bonnie Van Hout and daughter, Susan House, Maureen Willis and her children, Brian, Colleen and Patrick. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph in 2009. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 in St. Mary's Church. Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 in the Heieckâ€"Pelc Funeral Home, LLC 42 E. Genesee St., Auburn. Family has requested in lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the E.J. Gavras Center 182 North St., Auburn, NY 13021 or to the Throop Fire Dept., Beech Tree Road.
