CAYUGA | Byron H. Lafler, 77, of 6040 Route 90, Cayuga, passed away at home on Dec. 18, 2012. A native of Seneca Falls, he was the son of Lawrence and Valeta Page Lafler, and was born on July 19, 1935. He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1958 to 1962 and had retired from Seneca County in 2002, with 16 years of service and was a former employee of the Seneca Falls Hospital. He was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church and the Seneca Falls American Legion. He was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Ann Mapes Day Lafler, of Cayuga; his mother, Valida Lafler, of Waterloo; children, G.Wayne Day and Pamela, of Salisbury Mills, N.Y., Cheryl Hunter and David, of Cayuga, Keith Day, of Salisbury Mills, N.Y. and Wanda Stamper, of Hilliard, Ohio; four grandchildren, Joseph Bruno, Nicholas Bruno, G. Alexander Day and Heather Stamper; brother, Laverne Lafler and Elaine, of Seneca Falls; a special grandson, "P.J." and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence, in 1977. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc, 84 South St., Auburn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the Auburn United Methodist Church, 99 South St., Auburn, with the Rev. Rochelle Goff, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Cayuga. Memorials may be made to the Aurelius Fire Department, Cayuga Fire Department, or the Auburn United Methodist Church.
