UNION SPRINGS | Edward F. Trufant, “Ed," 84, of Davis Road, Union Springs, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Crown Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Cortland. Born in Cayuga, he was the son of the late, Coral and Mary Jennings Trufant. Ed was stationed around the world as an Air Force veteran for 23 years, serving in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he was employed with the Union Springs School District in the maintenance department and in the transportation department as a bus driver. Ed was also a mechanic in the Union Springs bus garage and a part-time farmer. He was an avid gardener and worked part-time at Pete's Produce. Ed is survived by his two sons, Robert J. (Elizabeth) Trufant, of Auburn and Mark F. (Marina), of Arizona; a twin brother, Robert H. Trufant, of Union Springs; a brother, Donald Trufant, of Cape Charles, Va.; five grandchildren, Jason (Cara), Sarah, Jessica, Corey and Morgan Trufant; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane Hooper Trufant, in 1990; a sister, Mildred Ringwood and by a sister-in-law, Nancy Trufant. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Langham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors, in Lakeview Cemetery, Cayuga. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association , in Ed's memory.
