AUBURN | Ennio Mironti, 86, of Fleming Street, Auburn, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, Dec. 10, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital. He was born in Morolo, Italy on Feb. 15, 1926, the son of the late Nazzareno and Assunta Costantini Mironti. Ennio immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived most of his life in Cortland, until more recently moving to Auburn. In his youth, Ennio worked for many years in construction in Rome, Italy. While in America, Ennio had been employed for Wilson Sporting Goods and later retired after many years, while working for Tompkins Cortland Community College. Ennio enjoyed gardening and especially loved the many roses around his house. He also enjoyed making wine and was most happy during the times spent with his family and friends. Ennio was fortunate enough after retirement, to be able to travel annually back to his hometown in Italy with his wife. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Assunta 'Gina' Guliani Mironti, of Auburn; a daughter, Anna Saltarello and her husband, Paolo, of Auburn; two sons, Sandro Mironti and his wife, Denise, of Cortland and Nazzareno Mironti and his wife, Cindy, of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Eugene Mironti and his wife, Josephine, of DeWitt; three grandsons, James, Dylan and Tyler Mironti; two nieces, Linda Mironti, of New York City and Gina Mironti, of Syracuse; a nephew, Joseph Mironti, of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins, in Italy and special friends, Steve Vincent, Cindy Porten and family, as well as many other neighbors and close friends. In addition to his parents, Ennio was predeceased by a sister, Leonida Mironti. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, for Ennio's Mass of Christian burial, with the Rev. Louis Vasile as celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ennio's memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021.
