CANANDAIGUA - Former Hopewell resident, Emily Cooley, died on (November 27, 2012) at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She was 95 and a half.
There will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of Emily's life will be held at the Seneca Castle Methodist Church at a later date with burial in Whitney Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested that contributions be directed to the Salvation Army.
Emily was born in Canandaigua on May 8, 1917 to the late William and Mary (Detine) Pearl. She was a active member of Home Bureau, enjoyed the outdoors, crafting and painting. She was a member of the Altar Guild at St. John's Episcopal Church for many years and was the surviving graduate of Canandaigua Academy's Class of 1933.
She is survived by her children, Carol (William) Mables, Palmyra, John "Jack" (Barbara) Cooley, Hopewell, Nancy (John) Meyers, Hopewell and Barbara Whitbeck, Schenevus, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Emily was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Howard E. Cooley in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas Whitbeck; her grandsons, Scott Cooley and Thomas H. Mables; and her great-grandson Luke.
