SCIPIO | Anita Irene Bergerstock, a life resident of Cork Street, in the town of Scipio, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. Mrs. Bergerstock passed peacefully on a 53 degree, rainy afternoon, at Auburn Community Hospital after a long and blessed life of 98 years and 7 months. Anita was the second oldest of ten children, born on April 26, 1914, to Joseph H. and Mable Edick Stoker. Anita was a 1932 graduate of Auburn Academic High School and a life member of the Scipio Community Church, holding offices in the Ladies Aid Society for over 28 years. Anita owned and operated the family farm in Scipio for 76 years with her late husband Robert J. Bergerstock, who passed away in August of 1996 after 63 years of marriage. She is survived by her three beloved sons and their families, Robert D. and his late wife, Joan, of Scipio Center, Joseph C., of Syracuse, and Raydon H. and his wife, Joyce, of Union Springs; two sisters, Mary Matanle, of Maryland, and Nancy Goodnough, of Moravia; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by five sisters, Marion, Alice, Bernice, Isabell and Joan; and by two brothers, Edward and Ernest. Friends are invited to visit the family 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Langham Funeral Home, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Main officiating followed by burial in Fleming Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to the Scipio Community Church, Route 34, Scipio Center, NY 13147 in memory of Anita.
