Mr. Joseph J. Shaw, 62, of 5775 Sandbank Road, Jordan, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at his home. A native of Auburn, he was born on April 9, 1950, the son of Louise Zucchero Shaw and the late Joseph F. Shaw. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, Cayuga Community College (then A.C.C.) and attended Syracuse University. He was always a well-read man in politics and automobiles topics, along with the Bible. He was a 22-year correctional officer, currently at Cayuga Correctional Facility, Moravia. He previously resided in Colorado and Florida for several years, and remained a fond traveler throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Fabin Shaw, of Jordan; his mother, Louise Z. Shaw, of Auburn; daughter, Denise Brooks, of Jordan; his grandson, the joy of his life, Avery Brooks, of Jordan; siblings, Diane (Frank) De Rosa, of Auburn, James (Gail) Shaw Arvada, of Colorado, Michelle (Dick) Murray, of West Palm Beach, Fla. and A.J. (Judy) Santillo, of Auburn; one aunt, Josephine Manzari; one uncle, Tony Zucchero, of Auburn and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his dad, Joseph F. Shaw. Memorial calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc, 84 South St., Auburn. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. with Maureen Collins, M. Div., Chaplin Cayuga Correctional Facility officiating. Memorials may be made to the Avery Brooks Educational Fund.
