Robert C. Matson Loving husband, father, grandfather CANANDAIGUA - Robert C. Matson, age 53, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tammy Matson; three children, Meredith, Mitchell and Carter Matson; two grandchildren, Chase and Elijah; mother, Jessica Matson; sister, Debbie Restivo; two brothers, David (Bernadette) Matson and Mark (Ardith) Matson; father-in-law, Edward (Kay) Marshall; sisters-in-law, Darla (Bill) Lloyd and Sherry (Greg) Reed; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert B. Matson, in 1995. Bob was born in Albion, N.Y. and was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1977. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Houghton College in 1981. Bob worked for the former Suburban Press in Orchard Park, N.Y. He worked for Messenger Post Media from 1984 to 2008 and concluded his journalism career there as executive editor. In 2008, Bob began working at Finger Lakes Community College, where he was the director of community affairs and relations. He was a former adjunct professor of journalism at Monroe Community College and Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications. Bob was an avid sports fan. He was a deeply committed Christian. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Road, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, P.O.
