Charles L Tomes Sr. STANLEY - Charles L. Tomes Sr., Age 73, passed away on Oct. 29, 2012, at Hospeace House in Naples. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, 1 E. Main St., Clifton Springs. Friends may contribute to United Methodist Church or Hospeace House in Charles's memory. Charles was born on Nov. 11, 1938, in Clifton Springs and was the son of the late Albert and Letta Tomes. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. In 2003, Charles retired from Gleason's in Rochester. He was a member of Phelps American Legion and Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, where he often helped out using his woodworking skills. He volunteered at the local food cupboard. Charles loved animals. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Zelma Tomes; children, Tracy Tomes and Charles (Pam) Tomes; grandchild, Barb (Dave) Herman; sister, Linda (Larry) DeClerk; and brother, Richard (Roberta) Tomes. Charles was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Tomes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patrick Funeral Home, Clifton Springs.
