NEWARK - Lucy M. DeCann, 85, of West Sherman Avenue, died Sunday (October 28, 2012).
Friends may call Thursday (November 1) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court in Newark. Funeral services will be Friday (November 2) at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society .
Lucy was born December 13, 1926, in Newark, the daughter of James and Catherine Inzara Tavano. Lucy worked for the Newark Developmental Center for 30 years. She was a member of the St. Michael's Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Marie LaBombard, Kathleen (David) Schlesselman, Nancy Lee of Newark, David Colarocco of Florida, and Frederick (Lynn) DeCann of Hawaii; stepchild, Bonnie DeCann and her special friend, Ernie Navarro of Newark; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson, due on New Year's Eve.
She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert E. in 2006; her parents, James and Catherine; daughter, Carol VonWiegen of Hawaii; three brothers, Paul, Frank and Anthony Tavano; four sisters, Connie Taylor, Marion Welling, Josephine Edwards and Rose Colarocco; and son, Robert in October of 2012.
