AUBURN | Elaine Marie Johnson, 63, of N. Hoopes Ave., Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. She was born in Auburn on August 14,1949, the daughter of the late John and Flora Alano Zicari, and had been an area resident for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Elaine had been employed in California as a medical assistant for the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to the local casinos. Elaine was most happy when spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Esko Wallace, who were together more than 40 years; three children, daughter Kimberly Schmidt and her husband, Michael, of Auburn, sons Shayne Johnson and his wife, Wanna, of Ithaca, Christopher J. Wallace, of Auburn; three beloved grandsons, Jonathan and Benjamin Schmidt and Nicholas Johnson; as well as several cousins. There are no calling hours. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 30, 2012, at St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elaine's memory to the Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn. Arrangements by the Pettigrass Funeral Home.
