Phelps - David Bruce Carlson, age 68, died Monday (October 22, 2012) at the Geneva Living Center South after a very long illness.
Friends may call on Friday (Oct. 26) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street Phelps. A Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Church in Phelps. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association .
Bruce was born on November 17, 1943 in Penn Yan, N.Y. the son of the late Alton and Freda Simmons Carlson. He was a member of St. Francis Church. Bruce owned and operated Carlson Brothers Meats Inc. along with his brothers. He was an AKC trainer and also an AKC judge for retrievers. Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also worked for many years at the Savannah game reserve.
Bruce leaves behind his wife Julie of 49 years; son, David (Pam) Carlson of Akron, N.Y.; two daughters, Laura King of Phelps and Katrina Knapp of Phelps; eight grandchildren, Cassie, D.J. and Kristi Carlson, Dan, Katie and Pat King, Tom and Jake Knapp; two brothers, Guy (Sandra) Carlson of Penn Yan and Ci (Bev) Carlson of Canandaigua; sister, Elsie Klube of Penn Yan; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Carty, Eloise Scutt, Bobby, Dick, Betty Jensen and Stu.
