GENEVA - Willi Horst Schumann, 84, of Border City Road, passed away on Tuesday (October 9, 2012) in his home.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of his life will be on Saturday (October 13) at 2 p.m. at the Border City Fire Department. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to the Border City Fire Department.
Willi was born in Kalkhofen, Germany, the son of the late Horst and Olivia Schumann and resided there for many years before moving to the United States. He attended a university in Germany and became a Master Machinist and owned his own company there for many years before moving to Geneva. He served in the German Army during World War II and spent seven years in a Concentration Camp.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara McClelland Schumann; his daughter, Christa Schumann of Germany; his step-children, Sharon (Richard) Sheils of Geneva, Frank (Mary) Guererri of Ovid, John (Midge) Guererri of Naples, Peter (Tammy) Guererri of Waterloo, David (June) Guererri of Waterloo and Andy (Lupe) Guererri of Geneva; step-daughter-in-law, Tena Guererri of Waterloo; 19 step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a step-son, Michael Guererri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home.
