AUBURN | Raymond E. Baier Jr. (Bud), 84, of Densmore Avenue, Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at his Owasco Lake home. Bud was a Holy Family High School graduate and retired as an assistant engineer with New York Telephone, where he was employed for more than 35 years. Bud was a familiar face in many local diners and restaurants as he enjoyed socializing with friends. His hobbies included restoring antique cars, building model airplanes, fishing, and in his younger years, hunting. Bud enjoyed summers on Owasco Lake with his family and friends. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Surviving is his wife, Emily Ball Baier; four sons, Raymond (Reb) and his wife, Patty, James and his wife, Beth, Mike and his wife, Teri, all of Auburn, and Gary and his wife, Sue, of Fairport; a brother, David Baier and his wife, Chris, of Moravia; 13 grandchildren, Meg, Steve, Rob, Bailey, Mitch, Kyle, Gary, Erica, Shelly, Taylor, Jordan, Matilda and Vincent; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by his first wife, Beverly Becker Baier in 1995; a sister, Lorraine Loeper; and brothers, John and Richard Baier. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Langham Funeral Home, Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bud's memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes.
