GENOA | Roberta J. Williams, 71, of Genoa, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Crown Center for Nursing, Cortland, after an extended illness. Roberta was born Dec. 30, 1940 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Willis and Ruth (Robinson) O'Brien. Roberta was a 1958 graduate of Cortland High School, and had been a resident of the Locke-Genoa area for the past 25 years. "Bert" retired from Pall Trinity Corp. in Cortland after 34 years of employment and had previously worked at Smith-Corona. She was a staunch supporter of the Genoa area "Hosscar" lawn mower races and the organization's fundraising efforts. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Williams, of Cortland, and Kirk Williams (Dawn), of New Castle, Del.; her companion of many years, Gerard Ahearn, of Genoa; three grandchildren, Sean Limbaugh, of Chester, Pa., Dakota and Skylar Williams, of New Castle, Del.; a sister, Johanna Potter, of Richford; several nieces, nephews and good friends. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, with the Rev. Fran Sampson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to services, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Virgil Cemetery.
