Penn Yan - Gail E. Hillman, age 71, of St. Mark's Terrace, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Sunday (September 30th, 2012) at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday (October 3rd) at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, where her funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Carol Pinneo, officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gail's memory to the First Aid Closet at the Dresden UMC or to the Ontario-Yates Hospice.
Gail was born in Penn Yan, N.Y. on February 8th, 1941, the daughter of the late, Stewart and Ruth (Truax) Nissen. Gail worked as a home health aid for 19 years for the Yates County Public Health Dept. She spent many years caring for children in her home. Gail enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her friends at St. Mark's Terrace. Her pride and joy in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gail is survived by her son, Douglas (Genny) Hillman; daughters, Sarah (John) Decker and Amanda (James) Wilson; her husband, David Hillman; grandchildren, Brandon (Jordanne) Hillman, Tiffany (Tony Boggio) Hillman, Kristen (Doug Cole) Hillman, Ashley (Jason) Jones, and Courtney, Allie, and Jamie Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Rylee, Colby, Avery, Connor, Bella, and Mason; brothers, Paul (Karen) Nissen, Jerry Nissen, and Tom (Carol) Nissen; her sister-in-law, Donna Nissen; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura Decker; her brother, Ron Nissen; and sister-in-law, Linda Nissen.
