Mary Crippen

PENN YAN - Mary Crippen, age 94, of Penn Yan, passed away Saturday (September 29, 2012) at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home.
Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday (October 2nd) at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (October 3rd) at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Liberty St. in Penn Yan. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Penn Yan.
Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Patient Activities Fund, c/o the Penn Yan Manor Garden Club, 655 Liberty St., Penn Yan, New York 14527.
Mary was born in Shortsville, N.Y. on July 15th, 1918, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Drost. She had been employed by Garlock's in Palmyra, N.Y. and Michael Stern Clothing in Penn Yan. Mary had assisted her late husband, Claude cooking at the Penn Yan VFW. She enjoyed doing her word search puzzles and embroidering.
Mary is survived by her loving family, daughters, Ann (Donald) Nolan of Canandaigua and Marian (Larry) Strickland of Penn Yan; her grandchildren, Andrew and Mary Nolan; her brother, Harry Drost; and nephew, David Drost.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Claude on March 4th, 2010; her brothers, John, Tony, and Michael Drost; and her sisters, Julia Drost, Eva Drost and Catherine Hartman.
The Family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home in Penn Yan.
