SENECA FALLS - Philip S. Pontius, 68, died Monday (June 30).
There is no memorial service, but charitable gifts in his name are suggested to be directed to Friends of Montezuma Wetlands Complex, Seneca Falls or Beverly Animal Shelter in Waterloo.
His interests included baseball, camping, spending time with and talking about his grandsons, antiques (he was an antiques dealer for 20 years), historic preservation, genealogy, literature, painting, and being a friend to animals. He lived in Akron for 15 years after earning his degree in history from Kent State University. He also completed a master's degree at Syracuse University.
He is survived by his wife, Joni L. Pontius, of Seneca Falls; and daughter, Melissa Pontius (Clark); and grandsons, Henry and Benjamin, of Akron, Ohio; his stepdaughter, Meighann Masuicca and stepson, Matthew Masuicca, are both presently in the Chicago area.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Carlisle, mother Ellen (Kelly), and brothers David and Norman.
