LYONS - John Leroy "Roy" Cox, 61, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of his life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (May 8) at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 Williams St., Lyons.
Memorial contributions may be to the Finger Lakes Cancer Center at Clifton Springs Hospital.
Roy was born January 5, 1953, in Rumson, N.J., to James and Elizabeth Cox. He graduated from Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass., in 1971. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and Fairleigh Dickinson University where he studied geology. Roy was employed at Refractron Technologies, Newark, N.Y. He was a member of the Lyons Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed working with his hands. Over the years he was an independent contractor for companies including Seals Eastern in Red Bank, N.J., and Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Calif.
Roy is survived by his wife Niki (Cipriano) Cox; daughter, Danielle (Michael) D'Alessardro of Sicklerville, N.J.; son, James Wells Cox of Geneva, N.Y., and beloved dachshund Greta. He is also survived by sisters, Shelly Leigh (Chris) Cox of Ala.; step-sister, Clair L. Hurd of Fla.; stepbrother Holcolm W. (Jenny) Hurd of N.J.; several nieces and nephews.
