David A. Herrala, 55, of Interlaken, died on Saturday (March 15, 2014) at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday (March 20) at the Interlaken Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the service at the Church. Burial will be in Laural Hill Cemetery in Odessa.
Memorial donations may be made to the Harvestfield Baptist Church, 2382 Leader Road, P.O. Box 176, Fayette, N.Y. 13065.
Arrangements are by the Hurlbut Funeral Home, Main Street, Interlaken.
David's career as a truck driver took him to every state in the continental United States. He drove truck for J.B. Hunt in Liverpool for 16 years and Gypsum Express in Baldwinsville for 10 years. David enjoyed traveling, especially by train both in the U.S. and Europe. His favorite destination was Finland where he had family and friends. He loved talking to and meeting new people. David will be remembered as a people person and would do anything for his friends.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Hazard of Interlaken; his father, Royce Herrala of Clifton Springs; his brother, Gary Herrala of Interlaken; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Hazard and Bill Lange of Interlaken.
David was preceded in death by his step-father, Pearl R. Hazard.
