Phelps - Michael R. Day, age 59, died unexpectedly on Tuesday (February 4, 2014) at Geneva General Hospital.
Friends may call on Friday (Feb. 7) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Gagnier officiating. Spring burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in Michael's memory to the Oaks Corners Volunteer Fire Dept., 607 Cross Road, Geneva, N.Y. 14456.
Michael was born on June 5, 1954, in Geneva, N.Y., the son of the late Clifford and Irene Logan Day. He was a member of the Oaks Corners Fire Department for 35 years. He has been a farmer all his life at the Day Brothers family farm. He loved Allis Chalmers Tractors and was an Avid Buffalo Bills Fan. He was a great husband, father and step-father. Michael was a man who worked hard and loved his family. Anyone that knew Michael became a friend. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Sharon Day; brothers Thomas W. Day of Phelps, Fran (Rita) Day of Phelps, Clifford (Anna) Day Jr. of New Holland, Penn., Bernard (Nancy) Day of Lancaster, Penn.; sister-in-law Jean Day of Phelps; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Arthur "Pat" Day.
