Irene R. Wilkins Kimari, 90 of Auburn and Huntington Living Center, passed away Friday January 17,2014 at Geneva General Hospital.
She was born in Auburn and resided most of her life in the Auburn/ Moravia area until more recently moving to Waterloo.In her earlier years, Irene had been employed by the former Auburn Inn as a waitress, the Barbara J.Shoe Company, and retired from General Electric Company in Auburn after several years of service. Some of Irene's favorite hobbies included knitting, sewing and working with just about any kind of crafts. She also enjoyed working on puzzles and playing many different games with her family and friends. Irene cherished the times spent with her family and will be sadly missed by all of them. Her warm smile and even bigger heart will never be forgotten and will always be remembered.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Ed) Curry of Auburn, Margaret Woodcock of Weedsport, two granddaughters Roxanne (Mike) Whyte, Denise Shaffer all of Auburn, six great- grandchildren Mitchell Nevidomsky, Michelle (Rick) Warner, Aaron Walters Amanda, Brandon and Bailey Shaffer, three great-great grandchildren Bryce and Braylee Warner, Ashton Nevidomsky as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1997, son David Ventafido, sister Marion Dyson, two grandsons Mark Curry, Richard Walters, son-in law Woody Woodcock, and brother- in- law Walt Dyson.
Calling hours are tomorrow( Monday). From 4 to 6 pm at the Pettigrass Funeral Home with services to immediately follow at 6 pm in the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial will be held in Throopsville Rural Cemetery.
