Geneva - Joseph M. D'Amico, age 75, of Highland Ave., passed away on Tuesday (December 31, 2013) at Geneva General Hospital. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 3) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St., Geneva. Funeral services will be Saturday (Jan. 4) with prayers at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Happiness House, 731 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, N.Y. 14456.
Joe was born on August 28, 1938, in Geneva, the son of the late Joseph and Everina Pacella D'Amico. He was a graduate of DeSales High School and RBI in Rochester. Joe started his long working career with several companies starting with SAGA, D'Amico Chrysler Plymouth, Bero Construction Corp. and Geneva Curbing. Joe also for many years was the co-owner of AXS in Geneva. Joe was appointed to the Geneva Housing Authority Board of Commissioners in 1999 and has served as Secretary, Vice-Chairman , and Chairman and was currently Vice-Chairman. Member of the Board of Directors of the Lake Area Development Corporation (Seneca Apts.), Board of Directors of the Canandaigua Senior Living facility-Quail Summit Inc., Board of Directors of the Finger Lakes Community Development Corporation, former member of the Geneva City Planning Board, IDA, Shriners and the DeSales High School SOS Committee. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 2397 Geneva, Finger Lakes Chapter Ducks Unlimited and the Geneva Country Club.
Joe is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter; Lynn D'Amico of Geneva; son; Steven (Cindy) D'Amico of Geneva; grandchildren, Nick (Becca) Schillaci, Emily Schillaci, Zachary D'Amico and Stephanie D'Amico; brothers, Peter D'Amico, Sr., John D'Amico and Charles D'Amico; sister-in laws, Mary D'Amico and Sister Clare Brown; several nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased, besides his parents, by a brother Frank D'Amico; his sister, Mary Sroka; sisters-in-law, Mary D'Amico, Madeline D'Amico and Joan D'Amico; brother-in-law, Thomas Brown.
