Geremia "Gerry" Ricci, 75, of South St. Road, Fleming, passed away peacefully late Friday evening December 13, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rochester, the son of the late Louis and Grace Dentino Ricci and been an area resident most of his life. He graduated from Aquinas Institute in Rochester, where he had a distinguished career in boxing that continued into his service in the Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps, he was champion of the Pacific Fleet. Gerry continued his faithful service to our country in the National Guard, for more than 25 years. Prior to his retirement, Gerry had been employed for more than 25 years for the New York State Department of Corrections. He enjoyed watching football and loved playing golf with his family and friends. Gerry cherished the many special times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Antonacci Ricci, of Auburn; two sons, David (Shannon) Ricci, of Syracuse, Anthony (Aly) Ricci, of Rochester; brother, Louis Ricci, of Rochester; three grandchildren, Celia, Grace and Anthony Ricci; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many dear friends, especially Gerry Guiney, Dick Rourke and Gary Coon.
In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Gilda Ricci.
Calling hours are this Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
